Yakkala & Alawwa RVAPL Workforce Play Cricket

‘Ranaviru Apparels’ (RAVAPL) at Yakkala conducted its annual Inter Factory Cricket Tournament and Tug of War competitions in the Urban Council ground at Gampaha on Saturday (3) under the guidance of Major Genaral Manjula Manatunga, Commandant, RVAPL.

RVAPL Annual Cricket Tournament got underway under three different categories; differently able, able and women. Differently able and able teams of RVAPL Yakkala emerged as champions in the finals defeating their Alawwa Factory counterparts. Woman cricketers of Alawwa Factory won the championship trophy defeating their Yakkala Factory counterparts.

All three teams of RVAPL Alawwa chose to bat first after winning the toss. However, differently able and able teams of RVAPL Alawwa became the runners-up and Yakkala woman cricket team became the runners-up.

Meanwhile, the Inter Factory Men's and Women's Tug of War Tournament kicked off on the same day at the same venue. Men's category was divided into heavy and light sections and both were won by RVAPL Yakkala. Women's category was also won by RVAPL Yakkala team.

Mayor of Gampaha, Mr Eranga Senanayake, together with Major General Manjula Manathunga, Commandant, RVAPL attended as the Chief Guest of the event. On arrival at the main entrance to the ground he was warmly received by Brigadier Kapila Ranaweera, Deputy Commandant of Ranaviru Apparels.

Commandant, RVAPL, Deputy Commandant and other several key appointment holders including Factory Managers of both Factories joined the presentation of trophies and certificates to the winners.

These events will inspire the morale of those War Heroes working in the RVAPL factories at both Alawwa and Yakkala. Sport media | Nike Air Max 270
