Woman Athletes in SLSC Make Impressive Records to Enter National Tournament

Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) woman athletes making impressive records in the ‘99th National Championship’ tournament that select athletes for the National Pool qualified for several events in the forthcoming national tournament.

The event held at Sugathadasa Stadium during 30 - 31 October enabled SLSC athletes to make new Sri Lankan records.

Lance Corporal K.L.S.K Perera of 11 SLSC won the first place in the Pole Vault event (3m 57 cm) breaking the existing Sri Lankan record. Moreover, Lance Corporal K.G.D.M.S Kumarasinghe of 2 (V) SLSC won the first place in 800 m event (2 Min 2 Sec 52 Ms) and breaking the existing Sri Lankan record having won the first place in 400m.

Other remarkable performances of the SLSC Women athletes are as follows:

Corporal D.A.G.J Wimalasiri of 3 SLSC - 1st place in Long Jump Men

Lance Corporal D.M.D.S Dissanayake of 5 SLSC - 1st place in 5000m Men

Lance Corporal K.L.S.K Perera of 11 SLSC - 1st place in Pole Vault Women

Lance Corporal D.T.A De Silva of 2 (V) SLSC - 1st place in 100m Women, 2nd place in 200m Women

Lance Corporal K.G.D.M.S Kumarasinghe of 2 (V) SLSC - 1st place in 400 m Women

Signal Woman M.Y.F Safiya (2(V) SLSC) - 3rd place in 100m Women

Recruit K.A.A Sewwandi (1 SLSC) - 3rd place in Triple Jump Women
