Woman's Coconut Turns into C-4 Explosives

ANURADHAPURA: ONE MORE attempt to smuggle explosives for use of terrorist attacks was challenged at a roadblock nearby Cemetery Road, on HOROWPATHANA- VAVUNIYA main road when a woman carrying one kg of C-4 explosives, hidden inside a coconut was nabbed by the Police.

The woman, said to be a native from the area was carrying a few coconuts in a bag made of jute when the Police after entertaining suspicion over her behavior checked the bag after removing the coconuts one by one to find that one of the nuts has been cracked, but it had been re-pasted together with precision.

Police found C-4 explosives to the weight of a kilo has been packed inside the nut and she was trying to find her way into northern VAVUNIYA areas when she was caught. Preliminary investigations confirmed that this Tamil woman would have either been hired by some terrorist elements or by another third party.

Police investigations have commenced.
