Army troops serving under the Security Force HQ – West provided temporary huts and Army chefs for conduct of a huge rice ‘Dansela’ (free eatery) at Mawathgama College ground in Homagama on Full Moon Poya Day (3 July).
‘Mawathgama Tharuna Kela’ organization in collaboration with K.D Construction Pvt. Ltd sponsored the cost of those free meals. An ice cream treat followed as a dessert after the main meal.
A record 10,000 people in the area enjoyed the free meal until late in the evening on this ‘Adi Esala Poya’ day that commemorates several important events in the Buddhist calendar.
The Commander, Security Forces-West gave his blessings to the project.
