Army personnel of the 141 Infantry Brigade, 6 Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and 2 (v) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps immediately lent their maximum assistance to extinguish a fire that erupted inside the Toyo Cushion Lanka pvt Ltd factory in Katana during early morning on Sunday (12 Feb).
About 60 Army personnel, including Officers and Other Ranks, together with the Negombo Fire Rescue Unit, Sri Lanka Air Force Fire Unit - Katunayaka and the Chilaw Fire Brigade after about eight hours of fighting, completely brought the spreading fire under control.
As instructed by the Commander, Security Forces- West, Major General Deepal Pussella, troops in coordination with the General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, Major General Roshan Jayamanna, Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Bandula Kariyawasam closely supervised the Army's involvement in the task.
