Army personnel of 3 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) under the 613 Infantry Brigade of the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-West (SFHQ-West) on Thursday (Feb 23) did one more beach cleaning project along the popular Weligama coastal belt.
The project was conducted under the directions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West and Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division.
Meanwhile, at the request of the troops, employees at the Weligama Municipal Council, interested foreigners, local residents, students and parents of Weligama Siddhartha College also contributed to this beach cleaning project.
Brigadier Indika Jayaweera, Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade and Major T.A.G.A.P Madiththapola, Commanding Officer of 3 (V) GW closely supervised the day’s event. Earlier, troops carried out a similar project along the beach in Dewata coastal belt.
