Army personnel of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) under the 144 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ -West on Wednesday (Jan 25) lent their manpower to remove a huge uprooted tree that had blocked the road passage near the Divisional Secretariat, Kolonnawa after the tree fell across the Kolonnawa - Rajagiriya road.
A contingent of Army personnel from 2 (V) SLLI on being informed of the need rushed to the venue and assisted road workers for clearing the fallen tree with the support of airmen in the Air Force, Police, Disaster Management Centre and residents in the area.
Brigadier Vindana Kodithuwakku, Commander, 144 Infantry Brigade, and Major R.A.A Ranawaka, Commanding Officer of 2 (V) SLLI supervised the troops' commitment on the directions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces -West.
