Wellness Resort - Resident War Heroes Enjoy the Day

The slapstick comedy, ‘Malwadam Anawashyai’ (floral wreaths not required) of the veteran dramatist, Wijaya Nandasiri, was staged at Defence Service  College auditorium Wednesday  (3) evening as a tribute to some 120 plus War Heroes, resident at Mihindu Seth Medura and Ragama Ranaviru Sevana, following initiatives taken by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).

At the invitation of Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, ASVU, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest joined them and other invitees to enjoy the stage drama.

Senior ASVU members, senior Army officers including Chief of Staff, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Adjutant General, Director General General Staff, several commanders at Security Force Headquarters and a host of officers with their spouses watched the drama together with those War Heroes.

Towards the end of the drama, the ASVU further appreciated the contribution of five wellness resorts-resident finalists who  competed in the recent Ranaviru Real Star Mission - IV by awarding them with cash gifts.

Lieutenant General Ratnayake, together with Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake presented those gifts at the same occasion to five disable contestants, out of 18 finalists who vied in the contest as an appreciative gesture of their musical talents.

Accordingly, Major S.K.T.W Chandrakumara (4 Gemunu Watch), Sergeant P.G.R Sanjeewa Gamage (12 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment), Sergeant G.I Subhashana (Special Forces), Lance Corporal W.L.M.S.K Lepothdeniya (Gemunu Watch) and Lance Corporal D.M.D Chandrasiri (5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment) received those incentives.

Several popular artists also witnessed the drama.
