Water Scheme for IDPs Inaugurated

SENIOR Advisor to the President Basil Rajapaksa (MP) recently visited the Zone – V, in Shettikulam, Manik Farm ‘Relief Village’ and inaugurated the new Malwathuoya water supply scheme for Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs).

Several Ministers including Douglus Devananda (MP), Rishad Badurdeen (MP) and Vinayagamurthi Muralidaran (MP) accompanied Mr. Rajapaksa during the tour. 

Competent Authority for IDPs for northern province Major General G.A Chandrasiri received them on arrival and conducted them to the Zone - V where they inspected newly-put up   temporary huts and other essential requirements, connected to the place.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Basil Rajapaksa sought the collective ssistance of all to implement welfare programmes that have been launched by the government for the welfare of rescued civilians.

Mr. Rajapaksa inaugurated the new water scheme at Zone – V which will eventually resolve the water scarcity problem in the entire Manik Farm Relief Village. Water obtained from Malwathuoya will thus be distributed among all the IDPs.  

The Ministerial delegation later on observed recommencement of the repairs on A-32 main road and day’s resettlement programme in Silavathura area in Mannar.
