Boy scouts cycling from Point Pedro to Dondra Point in the South with the objective of further promoting goodwill among different ethnicities had a sojourn in Vavuniya to be received in a warm welcome.
This national Boy Scout cycling tour, comprised of more than 111 participants reached Vavuniya after covering Kilinochchi-Mankulam road having started off from Point Pedro, Jaffna on 14th February. Ten more Boy Scouts from Vavuniya joined the tour when it left on Wednesday (16) for Kurunegala.
Those Boy Scouts were accorded a special reception at the Vavuniya Tamil Vidyalaya where they stayed overnight. The reception was attended by Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) as Chef Guest.
Mayor for Vavuniya S. Nadan, Commissioner of Boy Scout Moment Mr. Shiraz Sally, National Organizer for Scouting Mr. Roshan Fernando, Vavuniya District Commissioner Mr. S Balasingam and several other leading citizens in the area attended the ceremony.
