War for Liberation of Civilians Forges Ahead

WANNI: TIGER TERRORISTS, now dubbed as the world's most feared ruthless terrorist outfit continued to receive heavy beating for another day throughout Wednesday (13) as the troops were on the march for supremacy in WANNI.

The fierce battles that erupted in PERIYATHAMPANE, about 28 km northwest of VAVUNIYA centre at about 4.15 p.m. resulted in heavy losses to the LTTE claiming the lives of at least seven terrorists. Terrorists went on directing fire on the troops but alert troops responded effectively chasing the terrorist away. Their communications confirmed LTTE losses.

In two separate clashes broke out in MULLIKULAM between 8.45 a.m.- 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday (13) one terrorist lost his life when troops confronted him while he was all alone in the jungle for a secret mission. As the troops went on firing, other hiding fellow-terrorists directed a chain of fire on the troops in the opposite direction.

Two soldiers received injuries in the fight.

Another center of tight battle was ANDANKULAM, about 08 km north of UYILANKULAM center in MANNAR as terrorists starting around 10.50 a.m. Wednesday (13) went on directing heavy fire including mortars towards the troop positions.

Troops targeting an LTTE bunker being built stormed it killing one terrorist and injuring two more terrorists at about 10.50 a.m. Again around mid noon on Wednesday (13) troops got rid of three terrorists during confrontations in the same area. Nine terrorists were confirmed badly injured in this fight that lasted about an hour.

Not deterred by résistance, terrorists re-appeared in ANDANKULAM area again at about 3.10 p.m. after taking cover behind jungles and started pouring fire on the direction of the troops. Troops tactically moved forward and hit them bringing death to two of them as the rest of the terrorists went on vacating the area in fear.

Around 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday (13) in ANDANKULAM one more terrorist opened fire on a soldier from a distance and inflicted injuries on him. Troops cordoned the area and rushed the wounded soldier to hospital.

As late as 9.00 p.m. on Wednesday (13) terrorists once again tried to harm the troops after firing mortars on troop locations in ANDANKULAM but alert troops forced them to stop their firing after reacting in the same manner.

Their transmissions later said that two Tiger terrorists have fallen dead due to mortar fire of the troops.

Meanwhile, two soldiers in ANDANKULAM received injuries when an anti-personnel mine exploded while they were returning after a successful attack on the terrorists at about 11.00 a.m. on Wednesday (13).

The newest center of clashes in KOKKUTHUDUWAI, WELIOYA saw troops attacking terrorist hide-outs using artillery in response to a chain of fire directed by the terrorists.

Terrorist transmissions confirmed nine of their cadres were injured in the troop fire and seeking help.

Meanwhile, in THANDIKULAM and SIRIKULAM in MANNAR, clashes broke when troops started to confront a group of Tiger terrorists in both areas.

The confrontation at THANDIKULAM at about 4.00 p.m. killed three terrorists when the troops confronted a group of terrorists in the jungles.

Again in SIRIKULAM troops destroyed three bunkers of the terrorists after storming the area at about 5.00 p.m. Their transmissions confirmed three terrorists were killed and all three bunkers destroyed in the attack.
