War Heroes under Recuperation at MSM Offered Permanent Centre for Ayurvedic Healing

The ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’ (MSM) wellness resort at Attidiya where permanently-injured War Heroes are under recuperation and rehabilitation on Wednesday (11) was equipped with a new herbal medicine centre, ‘Mihindu Ayurveda Suwa Arana’ following a personal initiative taken by the Commandant MSM under the guidance of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage in close collaboration with the Department of Ayurveda.

Wednesday’s simple inaugural ceremony of the new Ayurvedic Centre, manned by Ayurvedic physicians and staff was headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Brigadier T.S Balasooriya, Commandant, ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’.

A Guard Turnout at the entrance to the complex greeted the day’s Chief Guest on arrival, together with his spouse, Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit.

At first, the Army Chief and Mrs Janaki Liyanage visited the wards at the MSM and inquired into the well-being of those War Heroes before gift parcels were shared among them as New Year compliments. Mrs Janaki Liyanage was also associated with the gesture.

Shortly afterwards, the Army Chief was invited to unveil a plaque and inaugurate the new ‘Mihindu Ayurveda Suwa Arana’ as members of the Maha Sangha went on chanting ‘Seth Pitith’ to bless the project. The Commander of the Army, together with Senior Officers present there closely inspected the newly-constructed treatment centre after a while and shared views with physicians in order to learn more about therapeutic procedures.

The Commander also took time off to interact with those War Heroes who sacrificed their legs and limbs while fighting against terrorism and personally inquired into their healing process as well as their requirements. During his address to the War Heroes, Commander of the Army stated “ I greatly appreciate your sacrificing and assure the continued and fullest commitment of the Army towards your betterment”.
