VALIANT soldiers eliminated brutal terrorism and safeguarded the sovereignty of the motherland through a three-decade long War. This historic victory over separatist terrorism paved the way for the building of a peaceful society in which people may live without fear and suspicion. To felicitate the brave members of the three armed forces; Army, Navy, and Air Force who fought the terrorists so valiantly and achieved victory and helped preserve the unitary nature of Sri Lanka and her territorial integrity, a banquet was held at the BMICH yesterday 12.
H.E the President Mahinda Rajapaksa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
When the villagers were deprived of their water at Mavilaru the victorious humanitarian mission had been launched, of which main objective was to rescue all the innocent citizens from the cruel grip of terrorism. The humanitarian mission achieved victory after victory until the grand finale when terrorism was totally eradicated, in VellamulliVaikkal disproving pessimists who had said tiger terrorism could never be defeated.
The gala banquet had been organized as a tribute to the velour displayed by the members of the Tri-Forces, the Army, Navy and Air Force on the instructions of H.E the President.
