14 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and Corps of Engineer Services (CES) troops of the 622 Infantry Brigade of the 62 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) with sponsorship, provided by ‘Manusath Derana’ project of the Derana TV constructed two smart classrooms for students at Kiriibbanwewa Maha Vidyalaya in Welioya area and Ethawetunuwewa Maha Vidyalaya in Welioya and vested them on Wednesday (28 Dec).
The construction of those smart classrooms was carried out in response to a request of the Derana TV who wanted Wanni Army troops to undertake the project since it is economical and credible for the sponsors.
Accordingly, Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SF-Wanni and Major General Janaka Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 62 Infantry Division instructed their troops to complete the project after fixing necessary electronic devices and equipment in both classrooms, which were a vital requirement for IT studies.
On Wednesday (28 Dec) a representative gathering including the General Officer Commanding, 62 Infantry Division, ‘Manusath Derana’ Project Chairman, Mr. Mahesh Jayawardene and his team, 621 and 622 Infantry Brigade Commanders, Principals, Civil Affairs Coordinators of the 62 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers participated in the formal inauguration of both smart classrooms at Kiriibbanwewa Maha Vidyalaya and Ethawetunuwewa Maha Vidyalaya.
