In the wake of looming threat of COVID-19 and its spread, the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni on Thursday (02) on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces -Wanni Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri organized a blood donation programme at the Army field hospital-Wanni at the request of the Consultant Transfusion Physician of the Blood Bank at Vavuniya General Hospital.
This was a move to fulfil any urgent requirement for different types of blood categories, platelets and fresh plasma in the event of any emergency as an alternative contingency plan in the face of swelling Corona pandemic.
Around 50 troops representing all under command formations of the Wanni Security Forces voluntarily donated blood to the Bank in order to replenish blood stocks in the Wanni region.
