Wanni Troops Repair Sinnawalayankaddu Tank Bund Split & Clear A 9 Road

A platoon of Army troops serving Vavuniya area with the support of villagers and Irrigation Department officials during past two days (5-6 Dec) managed to completely repair a huge split on the Sinnawalayankaddu Tank bund which was damaged by cyclonic weather patterns and due to the impact of the cyclone, ‘Burevi’.

The tank which gives water to agricultural needs of more than 113 families covering more than 200 acres of land in extent is spread over 100 acres. A platoon of Army troops, together with the Grama Niladari of Parasankulam village, Irrigational technical officer of Ireneiluppukulam, Assistant Divisional Secretary, Madu and Village Development Officer of Parasankulam closely watched repairs and provided technical guidance.

Meanwhile, troops cleared the A-9 road for movement at around 0200 hours on 03 December 2020 after a huge tree had fallen across the main road near the post office in Vavuniya town. A platoon from 17 (Vol) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment participated in the removal of the fallen tree with the assistance of workers in the Road Development Authority.
