Troops attached to the 213 Infantry Brigade of the 21 Infantry Division recently distributed 1000 more coconut saplings among the families living in Vavuniya area during two days (29 Nov and 4 Dec) as part of the ongoing coconut cultivation project in the Northern region.
With the intention of boosting the coconut production in order to make the North as the second ‘Coconut Triangle’, a comprehensive project is now underway with the active participation of Wanni, Mullaittive, Kilinochchi and Jaffna troops.
The distribution was made by the troops by visiting the doorsteps as per instructions given by the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu Required coconut saplings were provided by the Coconut Cultivation Board.
2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 2 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment troops coordinated and distributed those saplings.
