Wanni Troops Educated on Dangers of Drug Addiction


Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) with the intention of enlightening the troops on dangers of the use of narcotics, organized a counselling programme on Friday (5) at the SFHQ-W auditorium.

Messrs Chamara Pradeep Karunaratne, Drug Information and Educational Assistance Agency, together with several other officials, at the request of the SFHQ-W conducted those lectures during the day.

Those informative lectures focused on Prevention of use of drugs, Identification of different varieties of drugs, Impact and dangers of drug use, Effects on health and fitness, Smuggling methods, Spread of narcotics, etc.

The sessions were attended by a large gathering of soldiers including officers.   

Meanwhile, more than 215 troops of the 61 Division, 135 troops of the 62 Division and 138 troops of the 54 Division separately listened to the same lectures during Sept 2, Sept 3 and Sept 4 at their Headquarters respectively.

Directorate of Psychological Operations at Colombo Army Headquarters has taken the initiative of organizing these lectures on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.
