Carols and a musical night, organized by the troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), on account of Christmas festival, were held at their auditorium on Tuesday (23).
In the meantime, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W distributed special gift parcels among underprivileged families in the area with the objective of sharing seasonal compliments and further promoting religious harmony among all the communities.
A large gathering, including of Rev. Fr Laksiri De Silva, Paris Priest of Medawachchiya, all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, officers, other ranks and civilians, enjoyed Carols and the musical night, presented by the Army.
Meanwhile, on the directions of the Commander SFHQ- W, troops of the 54 Division under the same SFHQ offered their assistance for the conduct of a special Holy Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Wankalai on account of Christmas.
Troops, together with school students presented the carols and holy speeches.
Rev. Fr. Rayappu Joshep, Bishop of Mannar, Commander SFHQ-W, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Division, senior officers with their families, other ranks and a crowd of civilians, participated in a religious service.
