Wanni Troops-Built Two New Houses Vested in Poor Families

Two more newly constructed houses in the Wanni for poor people constructed by Army troops with sponsorship provided by expatriates were vested in those deserving families on Friday (24) by the Commander Security Force - Wanni, Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri.

The first house was given to the family of Mr K.D Nandasena living in Ethdathkalla, Thanthirimale. He was living with his wife and four children under economic constraints for a long time. The second house was vested in the family of Mr D.K Dinesh Kumara Delgahapeela living in Medawachchieliya, Thanthirimale. He was living with his wife and three children undergoing economic hardships.

Colonel Anil Peiris, Commander 212 Brigade through his personal contacts invited philanthropists living in Australia Mr Jagath Gunasekara and Shantha Kumaragamage who were keenly waiting for an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a destitute family by providing financial requirements to construct new houses.

Construction of houses was undertaken by 5 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard under Commander 212 Brigade with the supervision of General Officer Commanding - 21 Division Major General Vikum Liyanage.

The new houses are comprised of all facilities such as sitting area, dining room, bedrooms, washroom, kitchen etc. The occupants were gifted with essential household items, electric appliances and furniture on the same occasion. In addition, each house had a shrine room for religious observances.

The keys of newly constructed houses were auspiciously handed over to the recipients by Commander Security Forces - Wanni Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri gracing the brief ceremony as the Chief Guest.
