An Army initiative, taken by the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera, General Officer Commanding 21 Division Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana and Colonel General Staff SF-Wanni, Colonel Anil Peiris resulted in the construction, been badly affected due to financial constraints.
On being informed difficulties and challenges, faced by this civil employee with three school-going children in Moragoda, Megodawewa - Kekirawa, Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera approached philanthropists and donors seeking their sponsorship for the valuable project.
Dr Anula Wijesundera, Chairperson, 'Jayagrahanaya' organization willingly and immediately provided the main share of the cost, needed to construct the house. while the remainder of the finances was donated by the owner of Raja Jewellers, Colombo, Mr. Athula Eliyapura through coordination of Colonel Anil Peiris. Constructed by troops of the 7 (V) Sri Lanka Armoured Corps of the 212 Brigade the house was provided with electricity, water, modern amenities and all other facilities.
Family members and beneficiaries were also gifted with furniture and other essential household appliances and items, worth over Rs. 50,000/=. Colonel Anil Peiris and the Civil Affairs Officer of the SF-Wanni Lieutenant Colonel Upul Bandara jointly provided a new bicycle to the daughter of the beneficiary on the same occasion since she is compelled to walk a long distance back and forth from her school on daily basis.
