Wanni Troops Begin Construction of Two More New Houses

The veteran cricketer, Mr Rangana Herath and the Senior Deputy General Manager at Sampath Bank, Mr Tharaka Ranwala lent their helping hand to the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W)-initiated project for provision of two more new houses to the under-privileged civilians in the Wanni.

The SFHQ-W through its social welfare project in the past few months has erected more than six houses for poor people by seeking monetary assistance from various donors and philanthropists. For this project, Colonel Anil Peiris, Colonel General Staff, SF-W like in previous instances got the support of both donors with the blessings given by Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, SF-W who is the driving force and the pioneer of the house construction project.

The foundation stones to construct these two new houses were laid by Mr Rangana Herath along with Mr Tharaka Ranwala during simple ceremonies held on Saturday (25) in Agunakochchiya and Vavuniya areas.

Construction of those two houses undertaken by 21 and 56 Divisions on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni is to be completed within a short period. Cornerstone-laying ceremony on Saturday (25) was attended by both principal donors, Mr Rangana Herath and Mr Tharaka Ranwala at separate places.

211 Brigade Commander and Colonel Lal Wijetunge, Colonel General Staff, 561 Brigade, Colonel Anil Peiris, Colonel General Staff, SFHQ-W, together with several Senior Officers of the 21 and 56 Divisions and relatives of beneficiaries attended the occasions.

SFHQ-W identified the beneficiaries, Mr S. Sanjeewa Sirisena of Agunakochchiya and Mr K.A.S Sarath Thilakaratne of Vavuniya since both of them with big families are without proper shelters in consultation with respective Grama Seva Officials.

SFHQ-W has already constructed 6 houses during last six months for destitute families living in Medawachchiya, Vavuniya, Puleliya, Welioya and some other parts in the Wanni region. The construction of another house commenced on 2 May 2019 before foundation stones were laid for both these proposed houses. Sports News | Trending
