Wanni Troops Add Their Share to Sinhala & Hindu New Year Festivities

Security Force HQ - Wanni (SFHQ-W) troops celebrated the annual Sinhala and Hindu New Year on a grand scale on Thursday (06) at the SFHQ - Wanni camp premises under the guidance of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SF-Wanni.

These New Year festivities included traditional, fun-making features and rural games, inclusive of cross country race, climbing of the grease pole, pillow fighting, tug of war, etc. Further, the location was coloured with the village chieftain's mock residence (Arachchila Walawwa), rural house (Gemi Gedara), the market (Kadamandiya) and many more traditional features.

The Officers and Other Ranks representing SF Headquarters - Wanni, 21, 54, 56, 62 and 65 Infantry Divisions, Forward Maintenance Area - North Central, Infantry Brigades and Battalions of various regiments took part in the New Year festival with members of their families.

Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SF-Wanni graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks who witnessed the Wanni New Year festival.
