The financial patronage of the People’s Bank Buddhist Association enabled 17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the Security Force HQ -Wanni to provide their professional manpower for construction of a new house for a needy family on Thursday (18).
The opening ceremony of the new home, built for the needy family was held at 214 G Mundimuruppu GN Division in Vavuniya. Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander, Security Forces- Wanni, together with the General Officer Commanding, 56 Division Major General Nandana Dunuwila and the Brigade Commander, 562 Bridge, Brigadier A. M. S Premawansa attended the occasion.
Mr. Ranjith Kodithuwakku, General Manger of the People’s Bank took part in the warming ceremony as the Guest of Honour for the event since the bank sponsored the project. House construction for needy people with donors' support was initiated by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army as part of the Army's community services.
Senior Deputy General Manager People’s Bank Mr. Mahinda Premanath, Commanding Officer 17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Major H K Kumarasiri, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and several members of the People’s Bank Buddhist Association also joined the simple occasion, adhering to health guidelines.
