Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni and the District Secretary for Vavuniya, Mr Sarathchandra, together with representative officials of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) attended a special meeting at the District Secretariat on Wednesday (10) in order to review contingency plans against adverse weather patterns and conduct of relief operations.
Discussions also centred on possible measures to be taken to reduce landslides and earthslips due to overflowing tanks, evacuation of people from those areas, provision of accommodation and food, sanitation, and repairing of damaged tanks.
DIG Vauvniya, Health Service Officials, Agricultural Officials, DMC Officials, Other state Officials and Trade Union Members participated in the conference.
