Wanni Security Force Commander Continues His Formal Visits

The formal visits of the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Jagath Gunawardena continued his visits to the 61 and 54 Divisions Headquarters respectively during 29 - 30 July.

During the visit to the 61 Division, the Commander Security Forces - Wanni was warmly received by Major General R.K.B.S Ketakumbura, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Division, and greeted to a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. Afterwards, he was invited to plant an Ironwood (Naa) sapling in the camp premises to mark his visit to the Headquarters. An all Rank tea arrangement culminated the morning programme.

Next segment of the day’s event was a comprehensive briefing made by the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Division in relevance to the responsibilities and duties, vested in the Division. Culminating the visit, the visiting Wanni Commander addressed a cross section of the troops in the 61 Division and proceeded to the Battalion Training School on his way back for an inspection tour and had a close look at the training sessions in the Battalion Training School in Pampeimadu. He instructed the Officers, responsible for carrying out training there to enhance infrastructure and training facilities of the school to create a better training atmosphere.

On the next day, he visited the 54 Division where the newly appointed Wanni Commander was warmly welcomed by Brigadier A.A.I.J Bandara, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Division. A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour greeted him. Later the Commander Security Forces - Wanni marked his visit by planting a Mango sapling inside the camp premises. An inclusive briefing to enlighten the new Commander on duties entrusted to the 54 Division was followed by an address to a cross section of the troops in the 54 Division.

After his visit to the 54 Division Headquarters, Major General Jagath Gunawardena joined a tree planting campaign at Silawathura area where the Army is currently engaged in a massive tree planting drive, 'Thuruliya Wenuwen Api' to re-foresting adjacent forest reserves in the Wilpattu National Park.

Commanders of respective Divisions, Brigades and Battalion Commanders along with several Senior Officers and groups of Other Ranks were present during the visits to their respective formations. trace affiliate link | Nike React Element 87
