The Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) kicking off one more scheduled sports programme for the year had the finals in the Inter-Division Elle Tournament on Thursday (22) at the Elle ground in the 62 Division HQ.
Players of the SFHQ-W along with 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and the Forward Maintenance Area - North Central competed for the trophy in the tournament. Teams of 56 and 62 Divisions were selected for the final match out of 7 teams, representing each formation, and after a nail biting battle, the team of the 56 Division emerged as the Champion of the Inter Division Elle Tournament in the year 2019. 62 Division team was awarded as the Runner up.
This year's tournament was organized by troops of the 62 Division on the directions of the General Officer Commanding Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe and under the supervision of the Commander, Security Forces – Wanni, Major General Jagath Gunawardena.
The final certificate awarding ceremony was graced by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division, Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe as the Chief Guest. It was grandly organized by 622 Brigade troops under the guidance of the Commander 622 Brigade Colonel Saliya Amunugama.
Commander 621 Brigade Colonel A. P Wickramasekara, Commander 622 Brigade Colonel S. B Amunugama, Commander 623 Brigade Colonel T. G. P. S Rathnayake, several Senior Officers, Officers and many Other Ranks representing the SFHQ-W, together with 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and the Forward Maintenance Area - North Central participated in the event.
