Wanni &;amp; East SFHQs Commemorate Army Day

COMMANDER Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Kamal Gunaratne along with senior officers, officers and other ranks serving in the Wanni Headquarters attended a ceremony organized at the (SFHQ-W) premises to mark the Sri Lanka Army’s 60th Anniversary and the Army Day on Saturday (10).

Maj. Gen. Gunaratne hoisted the SFHQ flag before commencement of the main function. Army Commander’s Army Day message was read out to the gathering of Officers and Other Ranks present at the ceremony.

SF Commander also planted a mango sapling in the premises to mark the event.  



Meanwhile, on instructions of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) Major General Srinath Rajapakse, a series of religious and social welfare activities had been organized by the SFHQ-E in various locations in the area on par with the main celebration at the Colombo Army Headquarters on Saturday (10).

At the commencement of the main commemorative function in the east on Saturday (10), the message issued by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya was read out for all ranks.

A Sharamadana campaign at Welikanda temple, tree planting campaign in the area, renovation of eleven houses belonging to civilians by the Army troops and commissioning of a new water supply system in Welikanda hospital are among the major activities organized by the SFHQ-E in this connection.

In addition to religious ceremonies organized to invoke blessings on the Army, a trip was arranged by the Army for some school children to visit the Army 60th Anniversary exhibition at the BMICH, Colombo. Food and transport for all participants were provided free by the Army. 

Functions in connection with the Army Day concluded with an all rank lunch at the SFHQ premises attended by the SF Commander and senior officers.
