The Commander, Security Forces -Wanni, Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri made formal visits to the 54 Division HQ and its under command formations during 16-17 December.
Brigadier A.A.I.J Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division HQ received him after the customary Guard Turnout honour. Wreath-laying and plating of a Mango sapling dominated the itinerary before he received briefings.
Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces- Wanni visited the Naval Base ‘Barana’ and was warmly welcomed by Senior Naval Officers. They also presented a plaque to mark the visit.
As the next event, he joined a tree planting programme organized at Marichchakaddi, adjacent to Wilpattu National Park. Representative members of tri forces, the Police and students of nearby schools attended this programme.
Then, he visited the 543 Brigade Headquarters to be received by the Commander 543 Brigade Colonel M Mayadunna Afterwards, he paid his courtesy on the Bishop of Mannar Rev Fr Dr Emmanuel Fernando. On his way back, he visited the 7 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
The following day he visited the 541 Brigade to be welcomed by the Commander 541 Brigade, Colonel K.M.P.S.B Kulathunga. Next, he visited 12 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Artillery, 10 (V) Battalion of Gemunu Watch respectively and there the Commanding Officers of those Battalions warmly welcomed the visiting Major General.
Finally, he visited the 542 Brigade, 15 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch respectively and received briefings made by the Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer of respective Brigades and Battalions.
