Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander Security Forces - Wanni visited the 563 Brigade area on 21 May 2021 and had a look at the just-constructed 'Awasageya' (residential building) in Etambagaskada Rajamaha Viharaya during a visit.
He met the chief incumbent of the temple and inquired into the construction work, carried out by Army troops at the monk's request. As the new Awasageya building has been completed, the chief incumbent requested that dilapidated one be demolished and its debris removed. Troops of 7 SLSR and 8 SLE conducted the construction and removal projects.
This was one of the civil-military coordinating projects which has been planned for implementation in the area on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces - Wanni. Troops of 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment to mark the Vesak festival cleaned the temple compound too.
All renovation and cleaning tasks were carried out under the supervision of the Commander 563 Brigade on the instructions of the GOC 56 Division.
