Wanni Commander Makes Formal Visits

The new Commander Security Forces-Wanni after his recent assumption of office made formal visits to the 54 Division HQ and several of its under command establishments on Saturday (23).

Major General Indrajith Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division held a comprehensive briefing on the nature of the role and tasks of his Division after he was welcomed in a formal Guard Turnout.

Afterwards, he joined a tree-planting programme in Wilpattu area, served by the 542 Brigade area after calling at the 542 Brigade, 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 8 VIR camps in the area. He also gave away a stock of dry rations and school equipment to needy families in Silawathura area, following arrangements, made by the 54 Division Headquarters.

He also paid a courtesy call on Rev Fr (Dr) Emmanuel Fernando at the Bishop House in Mannar and exchanged views on matters of ethnic harmony and reconciliation.

Senior officers, including 541, 542, 543 & 544 Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and officers were associated with the itinerary of the visiting Wanni Commander. Sport media | AIR MAX PLUS
