Wanni-based 23 Farming Civilians Given Training on Agriculture

The three-month long Agriculture programme conducted for selected farming community by the Army Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock on the directions of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W), Major General Ruwan Kulatunga and the guidance of the Director, Agriculture and Livestock ended at the Manic Farm,Vavuniya during a simple ceremony on Wednesday (5).

The three-month long course was initiated on 8 January 2017 to suit the ongoing national programme on agriculture.

The course was followed by 23 numbers of selected civil farmers who were enlightened on both theoretical and practical knowledge on Crop Cultivation, Livestock Management, Agro Equipment Management and methods of Water Supply, during past three months at the Manic Farm.

Mr R.P.G Buddhika, Mr M.K Dilshan and Mr S.P Rupasena respectively received first three slots.

Captain S.I.K Vithana and Captain K.M.N.C Jayarathna of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGC) gave instructional support under the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock.

The certificate awarding ceremony and the closing ceremony of the course was attended by the Brigade Commander 213 Brigade, Brigadier S.M.S.P.B Samarakoon as the Chief Guest.

Religious leaders, senior Officers, Officers, Other Rankers and a group of civilians also contributed to the occasion.
