The closing ceremony of the annual Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W)-spearheaded Inter Division Athletic Meet - 2018 that amply testify to the physical robustness, energetic power and the stability of mind of all soldiers serving in all under command formations took place on Saturday (5) at the North Central Sports Complex in Anuradhapura.
The athletic meet, one of the main events organized every year for both Officers and Other Ranks was competed by all formations under command to the SFHQ-W, 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area - North Central in track and field events during 3 - 5 January where Champions were selected for the year 2019.
The athletics meet proved the highest professional sportsmanship with many records for improvement of the standards through their thirst for athletic achievements inside the organization meeting with one another in the same trade. The overall championship was awarded to 62 Division while 21 Division emerged as the runners-up. According to the results, 62 Division athletes scored 241 points against 154 marks of their counterparts in the 21 Division.
54 Division troops and its under command Brigades and Battalions organized the year’s meet on a grand scale with elaborate arrangements under the careful supervision of Brigadier Senarath Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division.
Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni graced the certificate awarding and closing ceremony as the Chief Guest.
