MAJOR General D.R.A.B Jayathilake, the newly-appointed Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) was accorded a Guard of Honour by SLAVF troops at their Headquarters in Pelawatta, Battaramulla Friday (5) morning in accordance with military traditions.
Major General Jayathilake on arrival at the SLAVF Headquarters premises was received by Major General A.C Obeysekara, SLAVF Deputy Commandant. He then inspected the guard turnout and proceeded to receive the Guard of Honour hosted on his behalf.
The new Commandant later on unveiled the newly erected SLAVF sign board at the main gate to the premises before he addressed a representative gathering of SLAVF officers and other ranks serving the Headquarters. A tea party rich with traditional sweetmeats afterwards provided opportunity for the new Commandant to interact with the attendees.
