Volleyball Tournament Win Goes to 11 SLA Team

 

The final round of the volleyball tournament - 2013, organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) among players in all Divisions, Brigades and Units got underway on Thursday (23) at Udayarkattukulam playground.

11 Battalion Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment (SLA) and 31 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) teams vied for supremacy in the final round, judged by volleyball judges in the Air Force Volleyball Federation.

After a close battle, 11 SLA team beat its rival by 2-0 points respectively and emerged winners to claim the championship. Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT as the Chief Guest, gave away trophies and certificates to the winners in the tournament.

The tournament, competed by 41 Army teams of the SFHQ-MLT area commenced in March 2013 and 59 Division team, 11 SLA team, 14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) team, 6 Battalion Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) team, 18 VIR team, 31 SLNG team, 7 Battalion Gemunu Watch (GW) team competed in the semi-final round.

However, 11 SLA, 7 GW, 18 VIR and 31 SLNG teams qualified to enter the final rounds. In the final encounter, 11 SLA team and 31 SLNG team met with each other at Udayarkattukulam ground.

683 Brigade Headquarters took the initiative to organize this tournament with the support of all the troops, serving the SFHQ-MLT.
