Troops of the 573 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), during a simple ceremony distributed scholarships and pass books to a few hundreds of students on Sunday (21) at the Vishwamadu Maha Vidyalaya premises.
Identified 220 students from low-income families benefited under this programme. More than 1000 students have so far have received scholarships will the support of troops.
To coincide with this scholarship awarding ceremony that enhances cordial relationship between Northern and Southern school children, 300 more school children and some teachers from Welagedara Navodya Maha Vidyalaya, participated in this event and interacted with one another.
Distribution of awards and certificates to the winners of 100 M, 200M and 400 M of the inter-provincial athletic meet which was organized after 30 years by the SFHQ-KLN, marked a milestone.
A cash gift of Rs 5000.00 was also given to Ms ThangaRaja Thanuja who clocked three records. This gift was given away by Mr Ruwan Kukuleganga, Director of RH Holdings (Pvt) Ltd who sponsored this cash reward.
