The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on Friday (22) marked its 29th Anniversary at the Regimental Headquarters in Boyagane with several projects that got underway on the directions of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and Deputy Chief of Staff.

A military Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by Regimental troops saluted the Colonel of the Regiment on arrival before he placed floral wreaths at the war hero monument. He added memories by planting a mango sapling in the premises around the same time.

Afterwards, he addressed Regimental troops and distributed cash prizes to VIR sportsmen who performed well during the different tournaments.

An alms-giving was held on Wednesday (20) for 29 Buddhist monks after an overnight Pirith chanting.
