The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) HQ at Boyagane marked its 32nd Anniversary in a series of events with the participation of Major General Nishantha Manage, Colonel of the Regiment and Director General General Staff at Army Headquarters on Tuesdday (22).
The anniversary events included a distribution of free dry-rations to elders at Mallawapitiya Elders’ Home and Maliyadewa Boys’ Home, Pirith chanting and offer of alms to members of the Maha Sangha during 18 - 19 March, mobile Ayurveda Medical camp and the Regimental Day celebration on the anniversary day (22).
On the Regimental Day, a Guard Turnout, a parade, commemoration of fallen War Heroes, unveiling of the newly-erected statute of the King Vijayabahu the 1st in the premises, troop address, fellow-lunch with All Ranks and several other interactions added significance to the commemoration of the anniversary day.
