VIR Headquarters to Get Several New Buildings with Modern Facilities

A well-equipped residential complex, consisting of a TV room, cafeteria, and a socializing unit, built at the Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment Headquarters (VIR) at Boyagane was opened on Thursday (31) by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and Deputy Chief of Staff at the invitation of VIR Center Commandant.

The entire building was constructed by VIR troops with the funds released by the VIR headquarters after this requirement was projected earlier as a priority.

In parallel to the opening, Major General Kariyakarawana at the auspicious minute laid cornerstones for construction of the new Officers’ Mess and the welfare shop complex in the premises.

Amid ‘Pirith’ chanting of the members of the Maha Sangha, the day’s Chief Guest took part in the foundation-laying ceremony, together with the VIR Center Commandant and a few more Senior Officers.
