Veterans on Expedition Reach Elephant Pass

The two retired veterans, Private (Retd) R.W.V Piyathissa of 2nd Battalion Gajaba Regiment of the Army and the Chief Petty Officer (Retd) M.B.W Kumara of the Sri Lanka Navy who jointly commenced a foot pilgrimage to Kataragama from Nagadeepa temple in the Jaffna peninsula on Friday (22) reached Elephant Pass on Sunday (24) to be greeted to a warm welcome, organized by the 66 Division Headquarters.

The expedition, began with the sheer intention of showcasing their spirited morale, bravery and courage that sustain among all disabled War Heroes who sacrificed their legs and limbs for defence of the Motherland received the blessings of the Commander of the Army and the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.

At Elephant Pass, soldiers welcomed both of them and provided food and refreshments during a stopover at the location. The duo at first saluted the memory of War Hero, Hasalaka Gamini at the Elephant Pass monument.
