VESAK LANTERNS AT AHQ ADD COLOUR

Hundreds of soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army extended their might during this season of \"Vesak\" in a different manner that fits the Exalted One's vision based on Metta, Muditha and Upekkha. Those soldiers, having toiled for several days, were to depict their artistic creativity.

The Army Headquarters (AHQ) in Colombo donned Vesak garbs during May 4-5 as colourfully and creatively-made Vesak lanterns of varying size and design added colour to the event and began displaying in the premises as dusk fell.

An estimated 28 lanterns with hundreds of small units, made by 25 respective Directorates in the Army, Military Hospital, Joint Operations Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion,

emerged a spectacle as Vesak sight-seers inside the Army Headquarters thronged there to witness the artistic beauty of them.

The best lanterns are to be rewarded after a panel of judges, headed by a Colonel selects them at the end of the display at AHQ.
