Vesak Festival Celebrations by Troops of Mechanized Infantry Regiment

In response to a request made by members of the maha sangha and under the guidance of Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Colonel of the Regiment - Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) and Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, the troops of MIR prepared six colourful Vesak lanterns for the Matale National Vesak Festival.

The Vesak lanterns were displayed from 23 to 27 May 2024, in various locations including Ukuwela, Kalalpitiya, Balakaduwa, Udupilla Anurudda Arana Temple, Manandawela Vijesundararamaya, and Matale Sri Vidyananda Pirivena.

Among the most competitive Vesak lanterns, the MIR's Vesak Lantern won the fourth place in the Matale Bauddha Balamandalaya, while the 3 MIR's Vesak lantern won third place in the Matale National Vesak Festival.
