Vesak Commemoration at Combat Training School Ampara

ARMY Combat Training School (CTS) in Ampara organized a number of events to celebrate the first Vesak after the end of thirty year long war against terrorism under the direction of Colonel KDCPJ Tilakarathne, the Commandant of the Combat Training School on 27th and 28th May.

Among the special events were Vesak lantern competition with the participation of Army, Air Force and Civil Defence Force members at CTS Ground and recitation of devotional songs by the trainees of CTS together with the students from schools in the area. A special programme was conducted by Ven. Ghanadhamma Thero from Mahameuna Meditation Hermitage on Vesak day (27) with the participation of trainees, school children and people from the area was a huge success. At the end of the programme Ven. Ghanadhamma Thero donated 75 books and 27 CDs containing the preaching of Buddha to CTS library

The Dansala organized by the CTS was opened with the participation of priests representing all religions. Ampara High Court Judge, Additional Government Agent and Senior officers from Armed Forces and a large number of people in the area also present on the occasion.
