‘A Helping Hand - Sri Lanka’ Organization has come forward to sponsor the construction of a much-needed spacious pre-school building in the re-settled Veheratenna village in Vavuniya, instead of the existing small ‘Ekamuthu’ pre-school building.
The cornerstone for the construction was laid on Saturday (10) with the coordination of the 623 Brigade troops under the 62 Division during a brief ceremony. Soon after the cornerstone-laying, a group of philanthropists, including those from the ‘Sun Construction’ gifted those kids of the ‘Ekamuthu’ pre-school with gift parcels, inclusive of school bags, books, uniforms and other accessories.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Wanni, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the foundation-laying ceremony. On the same occasion, 22 pre-school kids were gifted with school bags and water bottles.
General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, 623 Brigade Commander, senior officers, parents, teachers and several senior citizens were present at the occasion.
