The Commander Security Forces-Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara as the Overall Coordinator of Prevention of Covid - 19 in the District of Vavuniya presided over one more session of the coordinating conference on COVID-19 control on 09 August 2021 at the District Secretariat Office - Vavuniya, together with the District Secretary (Acting) - Vavuniya Mr T Thiresh Kumara, DIG Vavuniya Division, Regional Director of Health Services and other government officials.
The purpose of the meeting is to coordinate the proper mechanism to control the fast-spreading pandemic with the health sector, Police and government officials in the district. The Regional Director of Health Services Dr Mahendran briefed the situation emphasizing the importance of adhering to health instructions in order to prevent the rapid spreading of the virus among the community. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces-Wanni further highlighted the importance of health guidelines and their strict adherence.
It also discussed possibilities of enhancing the capacities of existing Intermediate Care Centers and sought the assistance from the District Secretariat.
