An awareness project on the dangers of narcotics and illegal drugs for both civilians and students got underway at Vakarei MahaVidyalaya on Thursday (5 October) following initiatives taken by the 233 Infantry Brigade following guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc.
Over 200 students and teachers along with civilians listened to the lecture delivered by Mr. P Thinesh, Main Coordinator for Batticaloa area in the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.
Colonel K.S.P Pothupitiya USP psc IG, the overlooking Brigade Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer, 7 Battalion Gemunu Watch, Civil Affairs Officer, 233 Infantry Brigade, together with the Coordinator of the Bureau of Commissioner General Rehabilitation office, Lieutenant Colonel Chandika Ehalepola were also associated with the awareness programme.
