UPDATE: Secretary Defence & Service Chiefs Interact with Kosagama Victims

A follow-up observation tour undertaken by service chiefs on Sunday (12) to the Ranavirugama, Salawa-Kosgama areas, affected in the recent Army camp armoury inferno, was headed by Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary Defence.

The fact-finding assignment, intending to closely liaise with the victims at Ranavirugama at first, and then the affected people in Kosagama-Salawa areas, preceded a briefing given by commanding officers of the tri services, engaged in current relief and reconstruction work.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, during the interaction with resident War Heroes, most of who are disable, spoke to them and shared their concerns with the aim of learning more about their urgent needs. So did the visiting Secretary Defence, Navy and Air Force Commanders too whose troops are also heavily committed to bring normalcy to hundreds of lives in the areas, hand in hand with all state agencies.

The visiting team also called at the partly-destroyed Kosgama hospital and exchanged views with authorities on duty at the time, focused largely on ongoing renovation work. They also inquired into the vital needs of relief teams, if any during their stay with them.

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West, Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Major General K.W Edema, Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps were associated with the visit.
