UPDATE: More Dead Bodies Recovered from Aranayake

Army troops, engaged in search operations in landslide-hit Aranayaka areas by Monday (23) have managed to recover 24 dead bodies, including a child, six women and seventeen males, according to Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera, Military Spokesman.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army this morning (23) instructed all respective Commanding Officers to be alert to the post-disaster consequences since the flood waters are now fast receding and displaced people have begun returning to their dwelling places.

Several medical teams of the Army have set up their mobile clinics in Colombo region-based relief centres and elsewhere in Bulathkohupitiya and Aranayake areas.
