Unsafe Shrubs around KLN Faculty Cleared On Request

In response to a request made by Prof. K. Kandasamy, Vice Chancellor of University of Jaffna, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi directed his 9 Field Engineer Regiment troops to clear jungle patches, shrubs and creepers around the Kilinochchi (KLN) faculty of the University of Jaffna in Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi on a priority basis after a recent wild elephant attack claimed the precious life of a university lecturer inside the campus premises in July this year.

The Army provided machinery and manpower to clear the land area around the University premises during 17 to 23 August 2020 as a protective measure and the project was conducted to further enhance mutual bonds of understanding and reconciliation between university staff/students and military personnel in Kilinochchi area. Civilians in adjoining areas are also among beneficiaries as a result of this clearance of the premises.

At the end of the project, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna highly appreciated the military assistance and extended his gratitude to the Army. Asics footwear | FASHION NEWS
