The certificate-awarding ceremony of the United Nations Military Observer Course - UNMOC (GPOI) No: 02- 2023’ got underway at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) in Kukuleganga on 24 November, headed by Brigadier C.A Rajapaksha RSP, Commandant – IPSOTSL.
The ‘UNMOC No 2 commenced on 06 November 2023 at the IPSOTSL and concluded on 24 November 2023. This comprehensive training capsule was undertaken in collaboration with the United Nations and Global Peace Operations Initiatives (GPOI) organization. The course was followed by 30 Student Officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and the Police.
The IPSOTSL has mainly focused on the prime responsibilities which a United Nations Military Observer has to perform and formulated the course curriculum according to the guidelines provided by the United Nations Department of Peace Operations (UNDPO).
Upon completion of the UNMOC, participants became competent in the knowledge, skills, and attributes of effective United Nations Military Observers. The lecture panel included 02 Foreign Officer Instructors from the GPOI Organization, Lieutenant Colonel Raju Maharjan and Major Durba Karki from the Nepal Army, and the In-house instructor, Lieutenant Colonel P.W Karunarathne RSP USP educated Student Officers on the Military Observer duties with real ground experiences.
Senior Officers and Officers participated in the awarding ceremony.
